Perpetual Posts Pattern Bundle

All four free crochet patterns in the Perpetual Posts series are now live! I had so much fun designing the crochet ear warmers, fingerless gloves, cowl, and slouchy hat.

Post contains affiliate links.

The first pattern in the series that I designed were the fingerless gloves. I fell in love with the way the texture of the posts paired with the color changes of the Red Heart Unforgettable yarn. After that I went a little nutty and made the cowl, ear warmers, and slouchy hat before finally stopping myself from wanting to design an infinite number of perpetual posts patterns. 😂

Yarn

I made three out of the four patterns in the “Sunrise” colorway of Red Heart Unforgettable and the last one in “Tealberry”. There are 20 total colorways in the Unforgettable line. Click here to view all of them and find current sales and pricing. (Another personal favorite of mine is “Polo”.)

Materials Needed

  • Medium 4 Weight Yarn
  • 5mm H Hook (or hook needed to obtain gauge)
  • Yarn Needle
  • Scissors
  • (Optional) Faux Fur Pom Pom. Click here to purchase an economical multi-pack on Amazon. Click here to browse my favorite handmade pom pom maker on Etsy (I used the color “Cherry Cola” from her shop).

The patterns are all available for free on my blog. Follow the images and links below to find each blog post. The premium, printable PDFs are also for sale individually on Etsy and Ravelry for 2.99 each.

Pattern Bundle Discount

Or if you’re as crazy for perpetual posts as I am you can purchase all four patterns together in a bundle for a savings of $2.00. Get the discounted bundle on Etsy or Raverly for only $10 with the links below.

When I designed the ear warmers in this pattern series I knew that I wanted to make a hat, also. The headband is super cute but these perpetual posts are practically perfect in every way and I NEEDED to see them all cinched up with a big fluffy pom pom on top.

I changed up the colorway this time to Red Heart Unforgettable in Tealberry. While I was still crocheting the hat I found THE PERFECT pom pom from Thread Head Knits Co.

Perpetual Posts Crochet Hat Pattern with Cherry Cola Faux Fur Pom Pom

The Cherry Cola Faux Fur Pom Pom was seriously made for this hat. Lindsay hand makes all the poms in her shop and also hand dyes the most gorgeous yarn. Click here to see what’s currently available in her Etsy shop.

If you’ve already made one of the other accessories in the Perpetual Posts Pattern series then this should be a breeze. The hat is worked from the top down and the brim is attached as you go. If you have any trouble just leave a comment and I’d be happy to help.

Chunky Cowl Free Crochet Pattern

I had the pleasure of publishing this free crochet pattern as a guest on the Stitch in Progress blog. The chunky cowl works up quickly and uses a 4 row repeat.

It’s an intermediate project and uses approximately 226 yards of yarn (I used less than one Chunky Caron Cake).

The free pattern calls for either a long color changing yarn or switching between two or more colors.

Look at this gorgeous finished project by one of my amazing testers!

Perpetual Posts Ear Warmers Pattern

Not only are these ear warmers fast and easy, it’s a real stash busting project. You’ve heard of one skein wonders, well this pattern takes only a fraction of a skein of Red Heart Unforgettable.

In fact, if you’ve already made one of the other two patterns in the series, you can use the remaining yarn to whip up these ear warmers. Two projects for the price of one!

The inspiration for this pattern series comes from a stitch repeat I found in a handy little book from Leisure Arts. It’s a pocket sized resource that I highly recommend. Click here to get the stitch guide.

Yarn

Red Heart Unforgettable

Medium 4 weight (100% acrylic)

Color (Sunrise), 1 skein

Yardage

Approximately 89 yards

Gauge

16 sts and 26 rows of sc = 5”

Hook

US 8H 5mm (or hook needed to obtain gauge)

Size

3 1/2” x 10 3/4” (laid flat)

Terminology

All crochet in US terms.

Stitches and Abbreviations

  • sk – skip
  • sp – space
  • ch – chain
  • sl st – slip stitch
  • sc – single crochet
  • dc – double crochet
  • fpdc – front post double crochet
  • fptr – front post treble

Stitch Guide

Front Post Double Crochet (fpdc):

Yarn over, insert hook from front to back to front around post of specified stitch and draw up a loop; (yarn over and draw through two loops) twice.

Front Post Treble Crochet (fptr):

Yarn over twice, insert hook from front to back to front around post of specified stitch and draw up a loop; (yarn over and draw through two loops) three times.

Notes:

  1. Pattern is worked in the round.
  2. Each round will be joined with a slip stitch to the first sc of round.
  3. Round 19 is optional. Adding a final row of slip stitches helps match the tension of the starting chain at the bottom of your ear warmers.
